Rehab People's rehabilitation approach is focused on achieving the best improvement possible in the individual's ability to manage day to day living activities in an independent manner.
Over the past 8 years Rehab People have developed a strong team of staff with specialist skills in caring for people with Brain Injury. For clients whose injury is accepted by ACC referrals come to Rehab People under a number of contracts to assess, plan and/or provide ongoing rehabilitation in order to enable a client to optimise their potential.
Our OT or Rehab Nurse may see someone at work and by liaising with the individual, the employer, GP and other therapy staff the client may be able to safely return to their pre injury work role or they may require a change in role that is more suited to the client whilst undergoing rehabilitation. Regular monitoring and supervision by the OT / Nurse in the workplace provides valuable support to both the client and their employer during the return to work process.
At home the physiotherapist and OT may work together with an individual to manage a physical deficit resulting from the injury, the physio working to improve strength and stamina and the OT empowering the client to manage their fatigue, improve memory difficulties and learn strategies to problem solve.
Rehab People also provide specialist continence advice. Our Specialist Nurse works with those who are experiencing problems with bladder and or bowel control, identifying treatment options and or identifying the best continence management options to help manage this distressing problem. Our specialist continence advisor also works with men experiencing erectile dysfunction.
Rehab People's team approach ensures that the client receives an effective, coordinated and timely service which best suits their needs at any given time. Rehab People staff work closely together and have an efficient communication system and monthly professional development sessions to ensure a quality service is consistently provided
