Alcohol & Drug Helpline:Telephone 0800 787797; text 8681; email ada@adanz.org.nz  website www.addictionshelp.org.nz  Provide friendly, non-judgemental, confidential information, advice and referral service for people with questions about their own or someone else’s drinking or drug use. Lines are open 10am – 10pm daily apart from Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Aviva: Free 24/7 support and information phone line 0800 28482 669. Originally the Christchurch Women’s Refuge. Supports children, young people and adults of any gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation to overcome family and sexual violence and achieve well-being. Group and individual programmes and temporary accommodation for those with no alternative.

Community Law Canterbury: Telephone 0508-226529, email admin@canlaw.org.nz General free legal advice.  Free information phone lines operate between 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Lawyers available by appointment Monday – Thursday by phoning (03) 3666870.

Crisis Resolution: After hours and urgent psychiatric assistance. 24 hour service providing assessment and advice for people in crisis associated with a known or suspected mental health problem. Mobile service available. Phone 0800 920092 or 03-3640482.

Healthline: 0800 611116; Free telephone health advice service available 24/7/365, staffed by registered nurses.

Lifeline: Telephone 0800 543354 (counselling line), free text 4357; email Christchurch@lifeline.co.nz website www.lifeline.co.nz A free and confidential counselling service provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. A first step for people reaching out for help.

Mental Health: Single Point of Entry (SPOE): provides a single point of initial contact to streamline the way people are referred for community mental health services. Offer advice; arrange emergency assessment, rapid and consistent response to calls.    Telephone 0800 920 092.

Partnership Community Workers: Telephone 03-3791739. If you need help accessing healthcare a Partnership Community Worker can help you to:

  • Enrol at a Pegasus Health General Practice
  • Get to your doctor/hospital appointment, if transport is a problem for you
  • Visit WINZ, if you need help with funding GP visits
  • Find other Community Services to support you
